I really do love birthdays. And celebrating. From the time we met and since your birthday last year, I did the math. 49 years this year, +1, carry the 1, equals 50. Voilá! And so a hatched plan, the seeds sewn...

I've been preparing for your 50th since that yurt in Antigua, like THE King James (basketball reference, you're welcome) because I am funny and have a funny kind of love for you that revealed itself pretty quickly. Your love is a gift that I can only try to match as quickly and easily as you give it.
You've always appreciated my makerly ways, which in this specific moment in time is a necessity.

Because then THIS happened.
Well not this exactly. The photo is from the first Earth Day in 1970, in Chicago at the year and place of what would be your first breath of polluted air, as this activist warns. I had to work the Covid-19 conversation into your web-scrapbook, which was meant to be a book-book but being no printers, no subway rides, no outside of the house, which we're over a thousand hours straight since March 17th to the time of this post on April 28th. Wait, so does that mean we're all in the Guiness Book of World Records for the most number of people and the number of days straight?
Who could ever have imagined this is what your world, much less the world would look like at this time right around 50?
I often ask you, "Remember when you didn't know me a year ago when you didn't write me because you were too busy in Paris? Remember?"
Because the truth is, I don't remember. Or rather, I can't figure out how all this time I didn't know I could have a wonderful love, with wonderful friends. It's as if LIFE had a trivia question that just gave up and was like, OK, here's the answer. Len's the one you're looking for.
You are brilliant and challenging and supportive. There are too many things to name, even with a limitless scroll screen. It's making my mind hurt and not because it's late. Even Seamus has left my side and has joined you in the bedroom. But all this, all you, recording how many people love you and I am in a sea of many many outstanding people. I'm shocked and humbled, And we've only just begun. We are at the beginning of a chapter in comparison to these 50 years which from the looks of it is promising.
Remember when you didn't know me 3... 8..29 years ago?
I SAID, TWEEEEEENTY- NIIIIIIIIIIIINE BEBENNNNNNG!
My ride or die, I love you to the ends of the earth and beyond.
